The break time is here and classes are finally over (well, almost). This means I get to travel around as much as I want and don’t have to wake up at 7am anymore for classes. I love the flexibility which is provided to us because I feel there is a good balance between traveling and studying. So you get to see all the amazing places London has to offer while earning credits for your degree. To me, that’s an amazing deal.
Well for this week, I was mostly trying to turn in all my papers one minute before the deadline cause all my courses had something due for the final week and I haven’t been the best balancing all the work but I made it work. Also, right after that, when I was done with all my papers, I tried a bunch of different places.
Since I can’t fly out of the country unlike everyone else here, I have made a list of places in London and in England I want to visit in the next month here. Whenever I meet a new person, this is almost an ice breaker every time for me. I ask them what’s their favorite place, where would they recommend me to do- that’s exactly how I compiled my list.
As I have mentioned in my previous blogs, I am the type of person who loves trying out new food cuisines and cafes. Last Friday, I came across this place called Criss Cross while aimlessly scrolling through Tiktok and it said that they had the best croissants in London. At that point, I just knew I had to go there given I have the biggest sweet tooth ever. I went there that day itself, and they weren’t lying at all. They indeed had the best croissants I have ever had in my life.
Also, this morning I tried out this Indian restaurant called Dishoom for breakfast and it was phenomenal. I had never really met this girl I went out with, Eesha, as we just spoke over texts, but the moment we got our chai and started talking, we bonded immediately. The best part is that she is addicted to chai as much as I am. Not going to lie, it’s great to finally make an Indian friend here. We spent almost 3 hours at that brunch spot and we had a conversation ranging from cricket to jobs and internships. Sometimes you meet few people in life where you literally meet them for the first time but it feels like you have known them all your life.
So what I want to say for this week is that I am glad I have been socializing and connecting with people outside of the FIE program cause everyone is at different parts of Europe and you don’t always necessarily have the same schedule. . I have the entire following week planned out as well, with people from here and to be honest, I am beyond excited. I consider myself extremely fortunate that I have the opportunity to study abroad in London because I have been meeting people from all over and I am sure in the future, when I look back, I will always be grateful because I literally know so many people from different countries.
To wrap up, this week was mostly trying out new restaurants and making new friends. Can’t wait to see what the following week has in store for me.
