Ciao Drexel! Welcome to my sixth post recounting my time in the beautiful city of Rome, Italy. This city is very big and full of beautiful sights and rich history. I think I could live here all my life and not see everything! These are only my top 5, however this city is full of things to do and see. I hope you check these spots out if you come to Rome!
5. The Aventine Keyhole
- This is an underrated spot in Rome that not everyone knows about! I won’t spoil the surprise, but it’s absolutely unreal. When you arrive you will see a door on the right side of the courtyard, peer through the keyhole and see the surprise!
4. Colosseum
- The Colosseum is absolutely breathtaking and one of the most surreal and captivating monuments in all of Italy. If you would like to get tickets you should look at least 3 weeks in advance or prepare to wait in an extremely long line that might sell out by noon. However, viewing the Colosseum from the outside is just as stunning and free! I’ve been many times and I will probably visit it a couple more times before I leave. It’s a must see in Italy and has so much fascinating history!
3. Trevi Fountain
- The Trevi Fountain is obviously a must see when coming to Rome. It is probably the most famous fountain in the world. I will warn you that it is almost always extremely crowded. If you want to get there when it’s not too crowded, I recommend going extremely early, around 6 or 7AM. You can also book a private tour beneath the Trevi Fountain! It’s one of the most incredible monuments in the city!
2. LaDispoli Beach
- I’ve visited multiple beaches in Italy and LaDispoli has remained my favorite. It’s a small town just outside of the city with the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen. It has black sand and usually isn’t too crowded. It was a quick 30 minute train ride from my apartment, so I visited it many times during my stay in Rome! It’s also absolutely breathtaking at sunset!
1. Vatican Museum
- I walked to the Vatican Museum on my first day in Rome and I absolutely fell in love with the city. This is a must see for all visiting in Rome. The church is free, however to see the Sistine Chapel you have to buy tickets. Just viewing it from the outside is so breathtaking, but going inside is even more incredible!
