Ciao Drexel! Welcome to my seventh blog post recounting my time in the beautiful city of Rome. During my time abroad I’ve traveled to many different parts of Italy and many different European countries. While I still have so many more places I’d love to visit, today I wanted to highlight my favorite cities I’ve visited in Europe so far.
5. Rome, Italy
- I have to highlight my host city! I absolutely love Rome. Some prefer cities like Florence that are less crowded but I really do love Rome. There’s so much to do here! I am biased because I’ve spent the most time in this city. But truly, Rome is so much more than its tourist attractions. Rome is home to the most beautiful architecture, streets and people. Rome also has the most incredible food. I don’t know how I’m going to eat Italian food in America when I go home! I feel very fortunate to have called Rome my home for the past couple of months. From the Vatican to the Colosseum to the Trevi Fountain – you will never run out of things to see in Rome.
4. Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Amsterdam is the most lovely city! Everything about it is so scenic and wonderful. I love how everyone bikes there – there’s actually more bikes than people in Amsterdam! Dutch food is also incredible and I love how people dress in Amsterdam! I had so much fun just watching people and seeing what everyone was wearing. The people I encountered were also very friendly in Amsterdam. The city was very quaint and had the most beautiful buildings, streets and canals. My friends and I visited the Heineken Experience, did a canal tour and walked past the Anne Frank House.
3. Capri, Italy
- Capri is absolutely the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. I felt like I was in a postcard. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. I only spent a day in Capri, but I am already dreaming of going back. My friends and I booked a boat tour around the island and it was so breathtaking. I also got to try Caprese salad and Caprese Ravioli in the place where it was created! It was amazing. After that we went to the beach and took in the sights. I wish I could’ve stayed there all day!
2. London, England
- I’ve actually visited London twice now, but this past time I fell in love with the city! I think this is the only city outside of Italy that I could really see myself living in. Everyone was extremely friendly to my friends and I when I visited and it was great not having a language barrier. We did go around Christmas time and the city felt so cozy and warm. I also really enjoyed all of the food I tried there! There’s so much to do and see in London and I can’t wait to go back!
1. Athens, Greece
- Athens was my favorite city that I visited on this trip. I was just so incredibly beautiful. I visited a small island off the coast of Athens called Aegina and saw the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen. The food was absolutely incredible, I’ve been thinking about it ever since I left. If you are ever in Athens, I recommend staying at Athens Hawks Hostel. It was in a great location and was very clean! My friends and I visited the Acropolis while we were there as well as Athens National Garden. There’s also so many cats around Athens! I would recommend traveling here to anyone visiting Europe.
