Starting a study abroad journey opens doors to more than just classes. It’s about discovering new horizons, and for me, being part of the Residence’s Social Committee has made this journey even more enriching. As the Well-being Representative, me and my team organize weekly events for over 600 residents.
Our focus is on making sure everyone feels good. College life can get stressful, so we plan events that offer a breather—a chance for people to relax and share a moment away from their studies. These events aim to create a supportive community within our residence, a place where everyone’s well-being matters.

But it’s not all about relieving stress. We also celebrate our diversity through cultural appreciation days. These events showcase the unique traditions, cuisines, and art forms of our residents. It’s a beautiful way to learn from each other and build a strong, harmonious community.
Adding a dash of fun, we organize social events that bring residents together. Movie nights, game tournaments, and themed parties create opportunities for people to connect and enjoy shared moments. It’s not just about having a good time; it’s about building friendships that go beyond the classroom, making our residence feel like a big, happy family.

Being part of the Social Committee isn’t just about planning events; it’s about creating lasting memories and a sense of belonging. Our events contribute not only to residents’ enjoyment but also to the development of meaningful connections that extend beyond the immediate academic environment.
Overall, joining the Social Committee has been a pivotal part of my study abroad adventure. It’s a simple yet impactful way to contribute to the well-being of others, promote cultural understanding, and build a sense of community. For those considering studying abroad, don’t overlook the opportunities within societies—it’s a chance to make your experience richer, more vibrant, and unforgettable.
