In my last blog post, I shared the excitement of attending my friend’s birthday party and experiencing my first taste of American birthday traditions. Little did I know that I would soon have the opportunity to create my own unforgettable birthday memories, this time in the bustling city of New York.
As the date of my birthday approached, I couldn’t contain my excitement. To make the day even more special, my mom and sister decided to surprise me by flying in to celebrate with me. Although my dad couldn’t make it due to work commitments, having my mom and sister by my side filled my heart with joy.
We kicked off the day with a quintessential New York breakfast at a charming bagel shop in Chelsea Market. The aroma of freshly baked bagels filled the air as we indulged in a variety of flavors, from classic everything bagels to savory plain bagels. It was the perfect start to a day filled with adventures in the city.
Next on the agenda was a birthday dinner at a renowned steakhouse. The cozy ambiance and mouthwatering aroma of sizzling steaks greeted us as we settled into our seats. I couldn’t resist ordering a juicy steak paired with creamy mashed potatoes, a classic comfort food combination that never disappoints. It was a meal fit for a birthday celebration, and every bite was savored with delight.
After dinner, we headed to the theater district to catch a performance of the iconic musical “Chicago.” Sitting close to the stage, we were immersed in the electrifying energy of the show. The live vocals, captivating choreography, and dynamic performances kept us on the edge of our seats from start to finish. It was a truly unforgettable experience, and I felt grateful to be able to share it with my loved ones on my special day.
As I wrap up my first quarter as an exchange student, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities and experiences that have come my way. From exploring new cultures to forming lifelong friendships, this journey has been nothing short of transformative. I eagerly anticipate the adventures that await me in the next quarter and beyond.
