Over the past week I’ve been eating at some really good places in London, so here is a list of a few of my favorite ones.
Asian salad and Melrose Sunshine pressed juice from The Good Life Eatery
1. The Good Life Eatery: This is a hip and healthy café where you’re bound to find stylish vegetarian hipsters at. The Good Life is known for its organic drinks and meals, including pressed juices, salads and rice or quinoa bowls. Because it’s organic it’s a bit pricier, but it’s definitely worth it. I ordered an Asian salad and a Melrose Sunshine pressed juice, which had apple, strawberry and coconut.
Vegetable pie and salad from The Windmill
2. The Windmill: This is a traditional British restaurant that’s famous for their pies and steaks. My friends and I each ordered a different pie, and we each loved our meals! This was my very first time eating a British pie, and I ordered a vegetable one. It also came with a salad and the crust was definitely my favorite part. It just had the perfect amount of crunch. In addition to that, my friends ordered some Pimm’s, while I had a strawberry-lime hard cider. Both drinks were good and they’re definitely something we’re going to miss when go back home to the States.
Poached eggs and avocado toast from Muriel’s Kitchen
3. Muriel’s Kitchen: This is hands down the best place for brunch. Even from the interior design, you can automatically tell that it’s a good restaurant. They have the cutest quirky decorations, like flower pots and watering canteens hanging upside from the ceiling and illustrations of fruits and vegetables with puns hanging on the walls. I actually came here twice. The first time I had avocado and poached eggs on bread and the second time I had an English muffin with scrambled eggs and bacon. I also ordered an iced coffee both times, since their coffee tastes amazing. They also have a small selection of yummy desserts, and I ended up having the red velvet berry cupcake.
Double chocolate chunk cookie from Ben’s Cookies
4. Ben’s Cookies: Let me start off by saying that Ben’s Cookies is ten times better than Insomnia Cookies will ever be. You definitely get your money’s worth here because unlike Insomnia, the cookies aren’t tiny. They’re actually a little larger than the standard cookie size. What I like about Ben’s is that they have more mature flavors by just sticking to the basics, like different types of chocolates, nuts and dried fruit. I personally don’t like when desserts are too sweet, so flavors, like M&M cookies just don’t appeal to me. Ben’s also has a deal where you can buy three cookies and get one free, and each cookie is priced by weight instead of a set price. Not to mention, they have amazing customer service. There was one day where I came in to purchase four cookies, but their credit card machine couldn’t receive Internet connection. Therefore, the employee just told me that I could have the cookies for free, since it wasn’t my fault. I was in disbelief, but it definitely turned my bad day around.
