Raíces: Segovia

Hola amigos,

I had a long weekend! There was no class on Halloween and the day after was All-Saints’ Days, a national holiday here in Spain. I considered taking a long weekend trip elsewhere in Europe but I ended up just staying home and relaxing for most of the weekend. I’ve been traveling almost every weekend, so it was nice to have that break to rest up. I did take a day trip on Saturday, however. I went to Segovia, known for its extremely well-preserved Roman aqueducts, built 2,000 years ago by the Romans and used up until the middle of the 19th century. It is quite remarkable to look at and very interesting to see such a wondrous construction built so long ago. Segovia is also known for its trademark dish, cochinillo, a roast suckling pig. I’m not a huge fan of pork meat, but the meat was one of the most tender meats I have ever tasted and bursting with flavor. It was amazing. Segovia also has one of only two Gothic-style cathedrals in Spain, the other being the Sagrada Familia. It is beautiful. Enjoy the pictures!
