Italy – Part II

Hey everyone,

I am back in Madrid after my week-long vacation in Italy with my family. The second half of my trip didn’t go as planned, unfortunately. I went to Florence, which was absolutely stunning. I loved it there. It was such a nice city, very peaceful and historic. It was easy to get around. I went with my cousin and we did so much walking that we were sore the next day. Basically all of the pictures here are from Florence. I did not get to go to Rome, which is disheartening. I planned everything so perfectly, or so I thought. I got to Rome the day before my flight around 12:00 PM. I had booked a nice, four-star hotel for $35 online, 10 minutes away from the airport. The hotel even offered a shuttle bus to/from the airport for only 6 euros per person. I went with my cousin. Everything went great, just as planned, EXCEPT that I forgot to ask them one key detail: the price from the hotel to Rome’s city center. It turned out to be 100 euros round trip! That was just way too much. I might have done it a couple of months ago, but I am broke after doing so much traveling these past four months. I do not regret any of it, but I would have really loved to see Rome. I was not going to pay 100 euros just for a taxi ride to/from the hotel though, plus it was 3:00 at the time and it’s night time by 4:30 PM here. It just wasn’t worth it. Luckily, the hotel was great and we ended up still having a good time.

It is going to be such a busy week. I have a presentation on Monday, a five-page essay due Tuesday and a final on Thursday. Plus, I have co-op interviews Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to handle all of this if it weren’t for my organizational skills. The average person would probably be pulling their hair out or be very stressed at the very least by now. It’s all good though. I’ll be home in exactly two weeks! Enjoy the pictures..
