The Road Trip: Part 2

Moving on with the rest of the road trip, the next part was to drive around Lake Erie towards Cleveland.

Leaving the hustle of Toronto behind, we cruised towards Long Point, Lake Erie. On our way there we drove past a very small town that really felt like a scene out of Radiator Springs from the Cars movie. A pitstop for grub at a local joint threw us right into the small-town America vibe.

We made it in time for sunset at Lake Erie which was jaw-dropping. The deserted coastline, the hues of the setting sun – it felt like we’d stepped into a movie scene, there was no one else but us there. The chilly air didn’t stop us from taking a walk along the coast.

After walking along the coast, we found this old-school boat house joint for some hot chocolate. You could really tell this lakehouse must have been like 100 years old, it was very old school, even the hot chocolate was. The waiters were shocked when they heard we came from all over the globe and were confused how we ended up in their lakehouse.

After this we made our way towards the US-Canada border in Detroit, we hit up a drive-thru in Detroit for some Chick-fil-A and ate it in the car in the parking lot. Late into the night, we crashed at another Airbnb in a quiet neighborhood where our house was really nice as well. We got really lucky with all of our Airbnbs as we booked them as we were going to the city.

Morning in Pittsburgh was a reunion for me. A meet-up with my cousin from India and a Hong Kong friend studying there at Carnegie Mellon University made it even more special. I had met my cousin there after 7 years. We explored the city and went to their Christmas market as well. Pittsburgh was really different compared to Philly.

After this final stop, we ended up our long road trip back in Philly where we really were exhausted after going through 2 countries, 4 states and 8 cities in 5 days. It was definitely a unique experience that I’ll remember forever.
