Disha Dhananjay ’26 is a Law major studying at FIE in London, England in the Dual City Florence + London program this Summer 2024.

While my days in school are either a lecture class or field trip, today in particular was all field-trips! Enjoy this London sightseeing day in class!

8:40 AM: Head out of our dorm and walk over to my first class, British Politics, which is about a 10 minute walk. After meeting up with our class we take the Subway from Gloucester Road Straight to Westminster station. Today in British Politics we had a tour of the UK Supreme Court!

9:30AM: Supreme Court tour. We got to see all the major courtrooms and the library and since it’s summer holidays, the entire building was empty. It was so interesting to learn about how the UK courts function as it is a much younger court system. We learned about how the courts maintain diversity and how officials are chosen.

11:30AM: On a typical class day we do not end class until 12/12:30, but since today was just the tour we got out earlier than usual. Our lunch break typically consists of finding a nearby coffee shop or stopping at my favorite place, Blank Street, to get a mid day matcha!!

2:00PM : My second class of the day, Food & Culture in Britain, is also either lectures or trips. Today we were went out for afternoon tea! This was a must-do on my list before coming to London, so I am so glad I had the chance to go through class. We took the subway over to Borough Market and went to a restaurant called Roast. The ambiance was so beautiful and the presentation of all the food we learned about and tea was a very cool experience. We had traditional Scotch eggs, scones, finger sandwiches and pots of tea. I tried Breakfast tea with milk for the first time here and really started to love it.

5:00PM: After our afternoon tea we headed back home to hangout with our roommates and take a short nap.

7:00PM: Usually we try to do one fun thing every night or explore a new part of London, so tonight we got Indian food at an amazing restaurant called Gymkhana. This had been on my bucket list for a very long time and I knew I had to go while in London so I am so glad we were able to get a reservation.

9:30PM: After dinner we went home and winded down for the night, did some work and went to bed!
