Nick’s parents have come to visit for the week, here in Sydney. They were suppose to arrive on Monday, however there was a problem with their first plane, which led to missing their connection and they ended up arriving Tuesday morning. Nick and I went to pick them up at the airport around 7:30am and they are staying in a nice Air B&B in Newtown. We have shown them all around the university and the CBD, unfortunately the weather has been bad lately and it has rained all week. They really loved Glebe and, of course, seeing the Opera House and the Botanic Gardens! They loved all the food of Newtown and did all the must do things of Sydney. It felt really good knowing all the good places to eat and see while they were here. It feels like that we’ve been here forever and Sydney is our home.
Today, we went to the Blue Mountains with Nick parents. We did a tour where we were picked up in the CBD, and driven into the mountains. We stopped for a quick breakfast with a great view in the mountains before going to Scenic World, where you can ride across the valley and see the Three Sisters in the Skyrail, ride down the mountain in the Railway, walk around the forest at the bottom and then take a cable car back up to the top. It was a really great experience and the Blue Mountains really are blue! It was absolutely beautiful weather and the area was completely worth the trip. We ended our trip at the Featherdale Zoo, where we got to feed kangaroos and wallabies, pet a koala and see so many other native Australian animals. While Nick and I had done most of that already, we always love to do it again and Nicks parents loved it! They will be flying home on Tuesday, but Nick and I leave for our week long break tomorrow! It was really great to see them for a few days, and it actually made me a bit homesick seeing them.
So tomorrow we leave for Melbourne where we will be staying in the Melbourne YHA. We had a really great experience in Glebe before we could move into our housing here so we are hopefully the experience will be the same! One of our new Australian friends even offered to pick us up at the airport since he is already home for the break! We are very excited to get going!
